So August saw another chic, luxurious Black Box arrive on my doorstep…
This months Black Box included a few goodies that I have been interested in trying for a while, including a MAC Mascara & a concealer by Too Faced. The price of this entire box retails at £74 – significantly less than last months box – but still a fab bargain for £30!
My July review goes into more detail about why I chose Cohorted as a beauty subscription box & what I love about the brand from the packaging to the concept & monthly products…read the full post here
So firstly I’ll start with…
Chirp Body Softness Hair Mask, RRP £18.00
Okay so I absolutely LOVE hair masks. I love Aussie’s range ‘3 Minute Miracle’ & Oribe’s gorgeous, luxurious treatments & am always keen to try new products that claim to do wonders to my locks, so I was excited to see this in this months box!
Now this product is natural, vegan & free of nasties which is great but I was a little unsure of the packaging.
So it features a pouch with a screw top – the kind of packaging that would be familiar with gel/cream formulas but this is an oil…now the first time I applied this it went EVERYWHERE which was a nightmare. I would rather see an oil product in a bottle for easier application.
Having said that the packaging is eco-friendly which is great but I am a little disappointed with the results. Honestly, I didn’t feel like it made much difference to my hair. So with that being said I was a little unsure/disappointed.
Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in shade ‘Light Medium’, RRP £20
I feel like this product was the star of this months box!
It is a gorgeous formula – not too oily, not too thick – & leaves a real natural lustre to the skin. I use this combined with a highlighter under my eyes & on my cheekbones.
I love the sponge applicator & simply use my silicone beauty blender to set this product into my skin. The finish is flawless when using this applicating method & shows off just how awesome this concealer actually is.
The coverage is quite light & this colour is darker than most of my other concealers making this product perfect for summer when I am more sunkissed than usual.
This got a big thumbs up from me!
Paul Yacomine Huile de Parfum, RRP: £28
I was really impressed with the size of this piece. It is clearly a full size product which is great for a luxury beauty box.
The smell is rather strong – not particularly a scent I am fond of but not overly offensive either. Quite musky & floral/herby if that makes sense.
I love that the oil can be used all over your body & your hair – that makes for a great product. My skin felt gorgeous after use & not too greasy or slippery as this oil is fast absorbing which makes for comfortable application.
So overall this is a great product minus the scent which isn’t something I would personally choose – but the formula is great & left my skin feeling nourished.
Apple & Bears Honey & Hemp Body Wash 50ml Sample Size, RRP £5
Okay this wasn’t a great experience. I was really excited to use this product as I love bath time & nothing more than indulging in a long shower, but I was really disappointed.
I didn’t like the smell of this at all. It was a real harsh fragrance & it almost reminded me of the shower gel that you get in hotel rooms – it didn’t leave my skin feeling any different & did not work into bubbles at all.
I was really sad about this as I SO wanted to love it! Booooo!
MAC False Lash Mascara in Extreme Black, Sample Size RRP N/A
So this is the first MAC mascara I have ever tried & I LOVE IT!
It worked wonders & the only downside was that I wish it was bigger to last longer! This is definitely a product I can see myself investing in. I am quite a harsh mascara critique so that says alot about how effective this product is.
This & the Too Faced Concealer made up for what was, overall, quite a disappointing box.
The overall value of this box came in at £74.00 – a little different form last months £104.00 box. I loved the variety in products – the eco friendly oil combined with big name brands like Too Faced & MAC – but overall I was a bit deflated.
I still love Cohorted & will look forward to September’s box with major eagerness!
