July’s Cohorted Black Edition Beauty Box Review

For a while now I have been intrigued by monthly beauty box subscriptions.

As you all know, I am always eager to discover new & innovative brands so what’s a more fabulous way to find new products than to subscribe to a monthly delivery?!

I wanted to find a Beauty Box that suited my style & my requirements. I didn’t want a box that was simply filled with tester sized products that I could pick up for free in Boots!

After researching every possible Beauty Box available, I discovered Cohorted.

I had finally found the box for me.

Now it is rather pricey compared to your usual Birch Box etc but it does include FULL SIZED products & luxury brands. I was completely sold when I saw that Nars happened to be a regular feature brand amongst the products put together in the monthly Beauty Boxes. Cohorted regularly treat their customers with the opportunity to win freebies from brands such as Chanel & Bobbi Brown – brands you don’t often see in beauty box subscriptions.

Given the content of my blog & the amount of money I spend on Beauty & Skincare products, it made sense to invest wisely by purchasing a Cohorted subscription.

So April saw my first ever Cohorted Beauty Box finally arrive on my doorstep (it was a bit of a wait) & it definitely did not disappoint. The plan was to post reviews as each box arrives every month but I have been insanely busy & those posts never materialised – super sorry – but now we are in July & my July beauty box arrived last week.

So starting with the packaging…

The signature black box is fastened with satin ribbon for a real luxury feel. The box itself is hard wearing with a matte finish & Cohorted logo printed in white on the front. These boxes look chic & elegant – a reflection on the high end contents inside. These boxes are also great for recycling! They make lovely storage boxes & I use mine in our dressing room to store things from hair brushes to fake tanning products.

So let’s get started with the July box review…

P8020228

The full value of this months box is £106.

First up we have…

Bellapierre Contour & Highlight Pro Palette, RRP £39

P8020231

I love a contour palette! Who doesn’t? So I was super excited to see this beauty in my box.

This palette features cream formulas in six different shades for highlighting & contouring…
P8020230Now I used my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette to death. I loved it. Having said that, I find that it is more of a timely application than a powder so due to me rushing around like a mad woman 90% of the time, I have stuck with powdered contour products since running out of Anastasia. My go-to contouring products are Kevin Aucoin’s Sculpting Powder & the Bar of Gold Highlighter by Charlotte Tilbury. I was looking forward to using this when I had time to thoroughly get ready & spend quality time on my make up.

Now the actual colours of these creams are perfect for my skin shade! Particularly the lightest one which I use as my highlighter. Now, I do tend to use a concealer as a highlight on a day to day basis – when I don’t want any shimmer & I want to look casual or more natural. Obviously the coverage of concealers is meant to be rather dense – after all it is made to conceal imperfections – so I had to bare this in mind when using this palette as you will definitely need to use concealer under neath as well as the highlight shade if you suffer with dark circles or dullness underneath your eyes. The formula isn’t thick enough to conceal any imperfections but like I said, it isn’t a concealer so that’s acceptable, but it does offer light, semi-build-able coverage & a gorgeous natural highlighting shade. The formula is light & creamy & melts into the skin so easily. I really enjoyed trying this. The only thing I will say is if you have particularly oily skin, you may want to use a good setting powder on top of this product.

This also comes with a step-by-step instructions booklet to ensure you get the most out of this palette, making contour & highlighting easier than ever.P8020232

I was really happy that this palette was included in this months Black Box & it will be getting lots of use from me! I purchased another of these & included it in a giveaway on my social media accounts because I enjoyed it so much – & I definitely know you guys will love it just as much…

Ciate London Illuminating Blusher, in shade ‘Pinch Me’ RRP £22

The first thing that caught my attention was how beautiful this product is! The packaging is absolutely stunning! It is so pretty. It comes in a compact case & features a cream enamel overlay with delicate metallic stars.

The blusher itself has embossed stars also, which adds to the overall theme. The formula itself has lots of shimmer & hence the name, is very brightening.

It features swirls of illuminating, highlighter combined with pastel pink blush. For me personally, this colour is too light for my skin tone which I am so gutted about as I LOVE everything about this blusher! I know there are other shades available so I am going to keep my eyes peeled! I was so happy to see another gorgeous product included in my box.

Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara, RRP £20

Doucce is part of this months ‘Brand Discovery’ with Cohorted. I hadn’t heard of this brand before. The packaging is very modern, quite futuristic with patent black/gunmetal details. Being a mascara fanatic, I was intrigued to try this out.

Now unfortunately I wasn’t a huge fan on this formula. I found it rather minimal in volume & lengthening & I feel like it just lacked something. The applicator is quite big which maybe doesn’t make for a thorough application. I do like a mascara to grab every lash & deliver volume at the same time. No one likes clumpy lashes! I did however use my current fave – the L’oreal Telescopic Mascara to really seperate my lashes & then applied this over the top once the first coat had dried. This actually worked & did deliver a little extra ‘oomph’.

Doucce Luscious Lip Stain, RRP £22

P7130059

Okay so I was really excited to try this out. The shade is gorgeous. It is a coral/apricot kind of shade & it suits my skin tone perfectly – especially when I have more of a tan.

So this is a matte formula which glides on perfect. P8030237I was really impressed at the application although it would be really useful if this came with a matching Lip Pencil to make a really clean finish. Instead it comes with a clear gloss so you have the option for a high shine, glossy finish or just the simple matte.

I am all about a matte finish at the moment. Matte lip kits have been such a hit the last year with every big name brand releasing longwear, matte finish collections. I love that matte look.

The gloss is slightly on the sticky side for me, it is quite thick but it does the job & is great if you want that super gloss finish – you the one, where you dread any wind & end up with hair sticking to your lips.

The stress is just too much for glossy lips on windy days. BAIN OF MY LIFE!

P8030241Again, this colour is fabulous for my skin tone, it’s super warming & really flattering when I have a tan. Sadly, I can’t see it being a universal shade & suiting everyone. It is definitely a marmite kinda situation. I guess I got lucky with this!

I’m really looking forward to August’s box. It is like Christmas every time it arrives on my door step…

I’ll be sharing with you a review of each months box & an in depth insight into each product!

Let’s see what August brings!

With Love,

Hayley x
