April has been a month full to the brim with amazingness – it was the month of my birthday & that meant lots of lovely gifts – it’s safe to say putting together this months favourites was difficult!
It also saw my first ever Cohorted Beauty Box arrival (blog post coming soon) & lots of goodies from Space NK, By Terry & Stila Cosmetics…
First on the list is…
Mouthy by Megan Mckenna Lip Kit in ‘Spa Day’ & ‘Sand’ £29.95. ‘Hello Dolly’ Gloss £14.95 www.mouthybymegan.com
After admiring Megan’s selfie’s & her always perfect lip wear, I had to invest in a Lip Kit.
Deciding which one to go for was difficult & after stalking Megan’s instagram & analyzing her selfie shots I decided to go as well as the ‘Hello Dolly’ Gloss.
I made my order on a Thursday afternoon & was super impressed when my order arrived Friday! First thing I did was message Megan to say thank you to which she replied – really great customer service.
The Lip Pencil in ” is THE perfect nude for my skin tone. I absolutely LOVE the shade & the actual Lip Stick again, is stunning. Super pigmented & really lovely to wear. Does not feel dry or uncomfortable & glides on almost like a buttery, matte balm with a really light formula – without compromising on pigment – unusual for a long stay liquid lipstick! The staying power is great (& the kissing power too, 😉 hehe! ).
I’m definitely going to be investing in the other shades now I have tried the above.
Chanel Hydra Creme, £50, John Lewis
Having run out of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, I decided to try something different again.
I have tried Chanel’s make up products but not their Skin Care so I was interested in what products they had to offer to suit my skin. I was definitely impressed with the array of face creams, hand picked for all skin types. My skin can be oily in the T-zone area but also dry at times too depending on the weather & my water intake especially.
After being given the option between a light Gel like formula & a Cream I decided to go for the cream for a little extra nourishment as I have been a little dried out recently. (They have a thicker version for really dehydrated skin but as my skin isn’t quite THAT bad, I was more drawn towards the lighter formulas)
The cream can be used as a Day & Night Cream & is such a perfect formula – being nourishing & light without being greasy. There is a lovely, fresh fragrance that is not at all over powering or musky which I really love. I look forward to looking into this range a little further for sure.
Matte ‘N Metal Eye Shadow Palette by Stila £39, Very Exclusive
I purchased this palette after seeing it on Very Exclusive. I remember thinking that there is not one single shade I wouldn’t wear – which is super rare with eye shadow palettes – there always is that selection of colours that you would never, ever wear which ends up making the palette seem uneconomical when you add up what you are left to play with!
I tend to only wear nudes/greys/browns/gold & bronze metallics & if I do go for a colour shadow it will always be quite dark with a brown hue – hence why this palette is so perfect for me.
The staying powder of the shadow is perfect – it is really long lasting & I had literally ZERO fall out when applying. The shades are super pigmented & I can imagine the palette lasting for ages as you need so little product to create maximum depth of colour.
The mix of the matte & metallic tones is great – you are able to create a real statement eye look combining the two or keep it simple staying with the Matte. The possibilities with this palette are endless making it a real make up bag staple. It’s super versatile & I can see myself reaching for it for years to come!
The gold packaging is also gorgeous & features a clear, large mirror – perfect for handbag applications!
Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne 30ml, £44.00, Harrods
As many of you already know I am a huge Jo Malone fanatic & have been for years.
I recently decided I was in need of yet another fragrance by Jo so decided to purchase Orange Blossom & Pomegranate Noir during a recent trip to the Harrods concession store.
This scent is absolutely perfect for this time of the year. It has everything I love a perfume to include – it is light, fresh, floral & fruity & has that statement, iconic ‘Jo Malone’ luxury about it.
I’d highly recommend this fragrance for Spring/Summer especially.
Jo Malone taught me the art of Fragrance Combining so Orange Blossom combined with something a little deeper such as Pomegranate Noir is the perfect evening switch up.
A must have staple for your fragrance collection!
Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer £7.99, Boots
Considering it is a drug store product, I was so made up with the results. As Chloe said – it has ZERO cakiness, it isn’t chalky & with that being said, does not compromise on coverage.
The sponge application is really smooth & I just use my mini Beauty Blender to even out the edges once applied.
I love the light formula as it doesn’t drag the skin & almost feels like a moisturiser/cc cream with perfect concealer coverage.
Essie Polish in ‘Touch Up’ £9.99, Boots
Now I am super fussy when it comes to nail colour & rarely go for any bright shades unless they are of a red, pink or orange hue.
Lilac is a huge hit this S/S season & despite it being a little out of my comfort zone to wear on my nails I do adore the colour. So when I discovered this shade I was made up. It is the perfect blend of a nude lilac colour – not too ‘loud’ & looks flattering with my skin tone.
It takes 2-3 coats for maximum effect & then I apply the Essie Gel Top Coat to lock in the shine & prevent chipping.
Being a huge Essie fan as it is, I can’t wait to discover more similar shades for the Summer.
So now May is here & I am excited for the start of the Summer products to arrive through my door!
Stay tuned for more favourite discoveries this month!
