I don’t even know where to begin when discussing my birthday this year.
I literally had THE most amazing birthday I have ever had. I was so ridiculously spoilt & I can’t believe the amazing gifts I received.
I’ll start at the very beginning…
The surprises started at 7am on my birthday.
My gorgeous Charlie was so eager for me to open my presents that it was debatable who was more excited!
I received the cutest gifts – all sentimental – the best kind! I opened Yankee Candles – I have a severe candle addiction, my favourite supermarket bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Oyster Bay – the wine me & Charlie first drank together on our nights in when we were dating & a Disney Colouring Book from my fur babies Cleo & Bella! They even had help wrapping my presents & writing me the cutest card ever.
Then came the big surprises, the screams & the happy tears…
I first saw this piece of art in February & fell in love.
I spotted it in the Chappell Contemporary Gallery & told Charlie all about it – tongue in cheek as it was expensive & we had just moved in to our new home with a shopping list as long as my arm & the whole of IKEA on backorder!
Anyway…the piece is by Lauren Baker & featured Neon typography which read “I Love You To The Moon & Back”
It is a Limited Edition Screen Print set on Museum grade paper: Somerset Velvet 330gsm, 100% cotton rag with a high gloss varnish & a glow in the dark ink overlay. The whole glow in the dark effect is just beautiful.
In my Valentine’s Day card Charlie wrote “I love you to the moon & back”…I didn’t twig at the time…and time passed & I decided that now was not the right time to invest in art & that I’d be patient & wait until a more appropriate opportunity.
Charlie woke me with my card at 7am – & again had put inside “I love you to the moon & back” & told me to shut my eyes because this certain present he couldn’t wrap. I literally had NO idea what an earth I was in for. I didn’t even have a clue. He came into our bedroom & told me to open my eyes…& there at the bottom of our bed was those very words, “I Love You To The Moon And Back”! Sat there in a huge frame was the piece that I fell in love with. I put my head in my hands & was in absolute shock at how wonderful this was & how lucky I am. I can’t believe he remembered, went & found it & spent the last month & a half keeping it a secret! I still to this day, a week on, can not believe how wonderful it was to open my eyes that amazing piece of art which now sits in our lounge! The most special piece that we will cherish forever!
As one can imagine after receiving such a huge present – in every sense of the word! – I was really shocked when he said there was something else he had to give me. He went & bought up a perfectly wrapped box (he chose all of the wrapping paper & even the bows & wrapped everything so nicely!) complete with a pink bow & ribbons.
I started to tear a corner of the paper & that’s when I spotted the familiar colour of the shoe box…I covered my face with my hands & started screaming like a child overdosed on blue smarties.
I couldn’t even bring myself to carry on opening it because I was so emotional – the Art & now these! Inside were a perfect pair of So Kate Pumps with a 120mm Heel in patent black.
The most beautiful shoes that I have always dreamt of since I was a little girl. They are so iconic & so classic. (I will be doing a separate blog post & review on these in the near future so stay tuned!)
The first bottle of Veuve was opened in the morning (I shall not disclose how early for fear of judgement! Haha!) & kept steadily flowing throughout the day!
I could not believe just how spoilt I had been. I couldn’t believe Charlie went to so much effort to make my birthday so wonderful. We also had a gorgeous meal that evening & a fun day planned at Go Ape the following day with Charlie’s mum, brother & sister & our close friends Sophie & Alex followed by drinks, the four of us, in the evening which we always love!
I received Birthday money from my close family which is perfect as I am pretty sure a Space.NK haul is rather overdue! Have got my eye on the gorgeous bronze Body Oil by Nars & a few of the Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks from her K.I.S.S.I.N.G Collection. Obviously a thorough unboxing & review haul post will follow!
As well as the cutest photo card from Boomf which made me jump out of my skin when I opened it & confetti burst out everywhere! So cool!
Charlie’s brother George bought me a bottle of Prosecco – winning! – along with this super cute tealight holder which looks beautiful in my dressing room! Gorgeous!
Again…I can never have enough candles, candle holders, tealight holders…I always have candles burning no matter what time in the day it is.
I received this beautiful, porcelain book mark from my Mum which is almost too stunning to use! I’m such a bookworm so this is just perfect! So pretty! I also got my favourite bubbly by Veuve Clicquot, copious amounts of Wine, Prosecco, cupcakes & gorgeous flowers!
Our friends Sophie & Alex bought me this gorgeous candle holder which features in our bedroom & is just so ‘ME’.
Sophie & I have the EXACT same taste in pretty much everything – the girl is practically my soul sister & our boys are never surprised when we turn up to dinner wearing the same jacket. The candle holder is from Neptune – Sophie tells me they have a few shops dotted around Kent & they stock the most stunning homeware – think Zara Home & The White Company – gorgeous!
I also received some new Make Up Brushes by Smashbox from my close friend Moira. I haven’t tried their brushes before so I’m excited to see how they stand against my regulars by Zoeva which I LOVE.
So many people wished me Happy Birthday! I had such wonderful text messages, tweets & Facebook comments & really felt so special – which made turning 27 & becoming even more of an ‘adult’ that much easier to accept 😉
I honestly wouldn’t have had such an amazing birthday hadn’t it been for my Charlie. I felt like an absolute princess from the day of my birthday on the Friday until the start of the new week on the Monday. The longest birthday I have ever had! I’ll say it a million times over – that he was my favourite birthday present I have ever had!
I’m sat here still grinning from ear to ear wearing my pj’s, with a facemask on my face & my Louboutins on my feet…
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the love I received on my birthday.
I honestly feel like the luckiest girl in the world…
An Emotional but Happy Hayley x
